Does Smart Home Technology Inspire or Inhibit your life?

Does Smart Home Technology Inspire or Inhibit  your life ?

There are many Consumer Electronics that can help address some of the world’s problems. For example, Virtual Reality (VR) applications are being developed as a new tool for stress management and drones are set to deliver blood and medical supplies in remote areas of Africa. Technology is also looking to address the serious problem of human isolation.

67 years trapped inside?

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the average American spends 93% of their life indoors. This is a combination of 6% in automobiles and 87% indoors.  However, given that the average life expectancy is 68 years and 4 months for males and 72 years and 8 months for females, that would translate a sobering 63 years 6 months (for men) and 67 years 7 months (for women) that we would spend indoors. Taking into account that most of our day is consumed with our 9 to 5 work, their doesn’t seem much that we can do to get outside and see the world.
