Retro Toys gone Digital with Rubik’s Touch Cube

index

Hard to believe but toys that were popular when we were young have come back into the forefront. Take for example the Rubik’s cube. Picking up my son the other day at his school I noticed a half a dozen kids out front playing with the Rubik’s cube while waiting for their parents.

Rubiks has worked hard to update this classic with the Rubik’s Touch cube. Although visually appearing to be similar, the optics behind it are different. No twisting and turning required, simply swipe your finger across it to manipulate the tiles.

The Touch Cube uses a motion detection accelerometer feature to adjust the colors across the tiles. It has great features such as remembering what the tilers were when you turn off the cube or change the battery. For players like me it has a “hint” mode to provide a suggestion for your next move.
