1. Prepare your existing deadbolt
2. Unscrew and remove the screws from your existing deadbolt thumb-latch
3. Remove the screws from the thumb-latch and insert them into the front of the mounting plate.
4. Attach and secure the Mounting Plate against the door
5. Select your adapter from the Compatibility Chart
6. Attach the Correct Adapter
7. Open the wing latches to prepare for mounting.
8. Attach the August Smart Lock Pro
9. Remove the top faceplate from the August Smart Lock
10. Remove the battery tab (ensuring the batteries don’t fall out)
11. Replace the faceplate
12. Install DoorSense™ (to know when the door is open and closed)
After these twelve steps, download and install the August Home app on your iOS or Android phone. Create an account. One thing to note is this last step should be completed with your smart home within range of the August Smart Lock Pro as your phone will look for the smart lock and ask you to calibrate it (by rotating it by hand to confirm locked and unlocked position). A chime sounds after each lock/unlock event. A small ring of LED indicators in the center of the faceplate and will glow green when the door is opened and red when it is closed.
Adding digital key for friends, a house keeper, dog sitter or trusted person is easy. The app enables you to send invitations to guests through a text message. It will prompt them to download the August app and register an account. After this is completed, you can set their access privileges from your smart phone. It is easy to grant access a few hours, or a few minutes or a few weeks. The app also tracks open and door close activity.
