Amazon launched a new consumer outreach program called “Build It”. The idea is if enough people preorder something, Amazon will produce it. It’s Amazon’s version of crowdfunding. Except in this case its a lot safer.
One of the idea’s launched is the Smart Cuckoo clock. This device is a modern day reincarnation of the Black Forest pendulum-regulated clock with a few twists. In addition to the cuckoo bird itself, analog clock face, and a removable pendulum this version offers a variety of connected customizations. The Smart Cuckoo clock. uses Bluetooth be paired with a compatible echo device. You can ask Alexa to set timers, alerts etc. and the cuckoo clock will display them on a small 60 LED bulb display.
In addition, this Smart Cuckoo clock has a built-in speaker for various alert sounds, and you can customize the different clock sounds to suit your mood. It also automatically sets time on the analog clock face via its connection to the Echo.
As with most crowdfunding initiatives, supporters will have to meet the funding goal prior to Amazon shipping out this clock between July – September 2021.
