At #IFA 2022 Lenovo unveiled the next evolution of their global PCs. The new ThinkPad X1 fold. This is the next evolution in their ThinkPad category that was created back in 2020. This device is bigger, more powerful, and more versatile than the original X1 fold. Starting off with the panel agency at a fantastic 16.3 inch OLED display, 600 nits HDR, Dolby Vision, also Dolby Voice and Dolby ATMOS as well for Dolby Fusion and a fantastic sound package with the device as a whole.
Small Enough to fit in your Bag
This six tail fold down in the form factor of a 12 inch notebook. So instead of having to carry around a large 16 inch device, which, you know, maybe doesn’t fit every single bag possible, I can now carry this 12 inch device, which fits conveniently in almost any compact bag or backpack.
Lenovo also updated this to a new folds flat hinge. The device folds completely flat, giving us a much narrower and then Z height with that hinge. The X1 also has thinner and narrower bezels with the system versus a previous fold. So much more optimal viewing experience there. You’ll notice also as well that new stand on the device has been removed and is now actually on attachment. This allows Lenovo to achieve all of the different orientations and mode.
Full Sized Performance
This is one of the areas they focused on with our new X1 fold. This is a full size of the keyboard that’s actually modelled after the X1 Nano. You achieve that legendary typing experience. It is Bluetooth and USB-C connected if you have a kangaroo touchpad. The keyboard is backlit and you have a TrackPoint for our translators. This keyboard magnetically attaches to the top of the device, is going to see the desktop on the device for the VR mode switch software.
If you were in an airplane or rideshare, maybe you’re using it on a tray table in the plane because you do get this 12 inch laptop experience, but then moving into landscape mode instead of your traditional compute over here, huge 16 form factor, great for consumption, great for creation.
With the ThinkPad X1 everything magnetically attaches. So the stand immediately folds forward and folds down and the device magnetically attaches to the bottom, came out to everything, packs together nicely talked about performance on this device.
Performance to the Max
Don’t be fooled by its size. This device is not a glorified tablet. It’s a full performance PC. Lenovo has Powered by Intel vPro®, an Intel® EvoTM Design, with 12th Gen Intel® CoreTM i7 processor with up to 32 gigs of LPDDR5 memory for connectivity. It is Wi-Fi6 compatible as well as optional 5G with PCI for solid state drives.
The system itself does indeed do battery design and they have a 48 one hour battery as well as an optional 16 watt over here gives you a total of 64 watt hours, which basically equates to about 11.2 hours in load mark 18 for the great wireless system.
Environmental Friendly
From a sustainability perspective Lenovo has created a truly green product. Whether it be the speakers bowsers, the battery power adapters are all 90 plus percent recycled plastics. The new ThinkPad comes in plastic free packaging with a reinforced paper handled on paper security tag. Zip ties and power plugs have now been made into a recyclable paper base and then the box of the system will come in is our new bamboo sugarcane packaging.
