#CES Unveiled Highlights: Innovation Takes Center Stage – Kirin and Rokid

CES Unveiled was a buffet of some of the most disruptive innovations for Consumer Electronics. Unveiled also signifies the unofficial start of CES.

Here are a few of our favourites from last night.

A Taste of Innovation by Kirin

Japanese based Kirin added a little spice but a lot less salt into our diet last night. According to Kirin, in Japan, the daily salt intake of Japanese people aged 20 and over is 10.1g*4, which is much higher than the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommended salt intake of 5.0g*5.

In order to address this the created an Electric Salt Spoon that helps address the cravings without the additions of salt. The Electric Salt Spoon device is equipped with technology that enhances the salty taste perceived when eating low-sodium foods by approximately 1.5 times*2,3.

The power of a weak electric current from the Electric Salt Spoon enhances the taste of the meal. Thus you can enjoy a delicious low-salt diet. The product launch of Kirin’s spoon marked the first commercialization of technology that won the 2023 Ig Nobel prize, a satirical award for unusual scientific research.

A Sight into the future with Rookid’s AR Spatial glasses

Weighing only 49g, Rookid’s AR Spatial glasses are smart glasses and a bit more.

Designed for lifestyle and professional applications, these glasses empower users with real-time language translation, instant object recognition, meeting transcription, and personalized navigation. With a focus on accessibility, ergonomic design, and premium audio integration,

These are the first AR glasses to feature intelligent myopia and pupillary adjustment. What that means is for those with glasses, physical inserts are not required. This is a big challenge and issues for those who wear glasses.

The glasses can also project a screen that goes up to 300-inches in size. It features a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, 600 nits brightness, and goes up to a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Rookid’s AR Spatial glasses  feature real-time language translation, instant object recognition, meeting transcription, and personalized navigation. For the multitaskers it also provides a 3-screen spatial browser setup. What that equates to is like having three monitors at the same time.
