écoute audio is set to debut its most ambitious and innovative release yet: the écoute TH2 At CanJam NYC on March 7-8.
Anticipation for the TH2 has been building rapidly across the hi‑fi community
The TH1 challenged convention. The TH2 defines what comes next
Two years ago, écoute rewrote the rules of portable audio with the TH1—the world’s first headphone to integrate a true vacuum tube preamp and dual‑mono amplification into a wearable form. It wasn’t a novelty or a simulation. It was a genuine analog signal chain, condensed without compromise.
The TH1 proved that a proper hi‑fi architecture. Vacuum tube gain, discrete amplification, and firmware‑level tuning. All inside a headset without sacrificing system integrity.
The TH2 takes the TH1 breakthrough and pushes it further
Built on the same uncompromising foundation, TH2 introduces measurable advancements in acoustic performance, noise control, shielding, and ergonomics. However, all of this was introduced while preserving the end‑to‑end dual‑mono signal path from DAC to driver. Unlike conventional system‑on‑chip headphone designs, TH2 maintains true channel separation and analog gain integrity throughout the entire signal path.
Most headphones route both channels through shared amplification. It’s efficient and compact. However this comes at a cost. Channel bleed reduces clarity, collapses the soundstage, and blurs spatial detail.

TH2 rejects Channel bleed
Instead, it employs true dual‑mono architecture: two fully isolated analog signal paths, each driven by its own triode vacuum tube stage and powered by a dedicated solid‑state analog amplifier. Crosstalk isn’t corrected, it’s structurally eliminated. Spatial information is preserved at the source, exactly as it exists in the recording.
This architecture is almost unheard of in headphones. In fact, it’s rare even outside of dedicated two‑channel rack systems, where space, cost, and complexity are far less constrained. But it’s precisely this design choice that allows TH2 to recreate the sense of scale, stability, and openness you’d expect from loudspeakers in a treated room—not drivers positioned inches from your ears.
The result is imaging that feels less like sound inside your head and more like a performance unfolding in front of you. Instruments occupy real space. Vocals breathe. The room reveals itself. The illusion holds.
Most headphones ask you to adapt to their sound.

- Lower‑noise active noise cancellation with a more natural transparency mode
- Improved passive isolation with reduced acoustic bleed
- Enhanced RF and microphonic shielding around the tube stage for a cleaner signal path
- Eight‑band firmware‑level tuning with ±12 dB of precision per band
- Modular construction with interchangeable ear pads and headband wraps
- Redesigned chassis and hybrid suspension headband for increased durability and long‑term comfort
The TH2 isn’t designed to replace your home system, it’s designed to carry its sound with you.
