Canadians are streaming more than ever before and are enthusiastically looking for providers that allow them to enjoy their favourite shows and movies without encompassing the hassles brought on by traditional media providers. From 2018 to 2021 the time spent on mobile live streaming apps worldwide increased dramatically from 281 to 549 billion hours (Source Statista )
Today, Roku unveiled their fastest and most powerful player ever. The Roku Ultra is the stream-ultimate in high definition Wifi streamers. For tech novices, Roku has designed this device to be literally plug and play.
Ultra Streaming and Amazing New Features
What distinguishes this player from the rest are a few cool new features including:
- Find your Remote: For the house that is constantly losing its remote, Roku has creatively solved this problem. Simply say “Hey Roku, where’s my remote?” and your remote will play a sound so you can find it.
- Voice controls: One of my peeves with remotes is having to constantly press buttons to perform simple searches. Well you can just say “Hey Roku” from across the couch to power up your TV, control your streaming, search for entertainment, and more. The interface is language and accent friendly.
- Stream in Silence: For those late night listeners who do not want to bother the rest of the family, Roku has taken care of this problem. You can now enjoy private listening with your favourite pair of wireless headphones and stream music from a connected Bluetooth device
Roku hasn’t cut back on any of its amazing audio and video performance with the Roku Ultra. You can play high-end 4K content with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision high dynamic-range. The remote on the Roku Ultra also has two programmable shortcut buttons in addition to the Roku preloaded options for Netflix, Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus and Paramount Plus.
Roku has also looked at getting rid of those pesky remote batteries with its chargeable remote. Roku says that the new rechargeable remote should last two months per charge and can be topped up with the included micro-USB cable. However, you’ll need to use your own charging block or plug it into the back of the streaming box.
