Cognitive WiFi Mesh to enhance your Home Network by Linksys

WiFi has gotten a makeover with the next generation in Wi-Fi 6 mesh systems

The weakest link on the home network has traditionally been your WiFi. However, WiFi has evolved from being a slow connected relative to its ethernet cousin. Today it is not only bigger and faster but more intelligent.

The Linksys Velop Pro 6E  is a node based mesh system for home networks. With Velop Pro mesh wifi 6E router, you can enjoy wirelike stability across your whole home mesh WiFi system. A 3 node system can provide up to 9,000 sq. ft.

The outward design of the Velop keeps the familiar white, rectangular design of older models. However, what is changed is under the hood. The Linksys Velop Pro 6E (MX6200) is a true tri-band WiFi® 6E router that uses Linksys Cognitive™ Mesh technology to provide you with an easy way to connect. Wi-Fi 6E allows you to use the 6 GHz band for your Wi-Fi 6E devices.

Cognitive Mesh, sometimes referred to as CogMesh technology, enhances network performance based on real-time data. CogMesh identifies and resolves congestion issues and manages signal and channel selection technology and intelligently optimizes network performance based on real-time data.

Setting up the Velop Cognitive Mesh

Setting up the mesh on the Linksys Velop Pro 6E can be easily done.

The parent node is the Linksys MX6200 which will be connected to your modem or internet source. While the child node is another Linksys MX6200 that you can add to extend your WiFi network. If you have more than one Linksys MX6200 node to set up, make sure to gather all your equipment in the same room as the modem or internet source. You will be able to relocate your child nodes after the setup process is complete.

    • Connect and power on your parent and child nodes.
    • Download or update to the latest Linksys app and launch the app.
    • Make sure that your mobile device isn’t connected to an existing WiFi network. Then, on an iOS device tap on Set up a New Wi-Fi Network or on and Android device Launch setup
    • When asked “What are you setting up” select Velop and Mesh Routers
    • Turn ON Bluetooth on your mobile device and connect the parent node to the modem and tap Next
    • Power up the child nodes and tap Next
    • Make sure all your nodes have a solid blue light, then tap on Node light (until it is solid).
    • Keep your mobile device near the nodes while your nodes are being set up.
    • Customize your WiFi name and password, then tap Next
    • On the Privacy Pledge screen, tap Continue when ready.
    • Log in with your Linksys cloud account.

Once all your nodes have been configured, the following screen will display the number of nodes that were successfully detected
